Soldiers Continue Memorial Day Tradition
Soldiers of the 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment in Arlington, TX placed over 250 thousand flags on headstones in the Arlington Cemetery. This is a tradition that began in 1948 kicking off the Memorial Day events for the weekend.
The hashtag #flaagsin went around on twitter and Instagram letting everyone know the tradition is beginning. 1000 soldiers placed the flags, the public is encouraged to watch but they cannot participate.
