Houston Landmarks Expanding and Relocating

I remember getting out of class and walking straight across the yard of TSU to Scott and stand in that crazy line for a 2 piece and fries; no soda though. The Original Frenchy's Chicken is being relocated!! It is more than just a food place for the college kids in the area it is a Houston landmark. Moving 2 blocks up the street could really affect the area.

Some would say the reasoning is not in vain, expanding the The Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church is for a good cause. Others might blame it on gentrification. Frenchy's and the church have worked out a deal for the church to occupy the full space that has been Frenchy's for 48years.

The change will not happen until 2018 but both establishments through a block party together this week to announce the move and expansion. It will make it harder for the newer college kids next year to walk to Frenchy's and experience a TSU or U of H lunch I am sure many alumni have. The owner of Frenchy's has assured the community it will just be a new location, same people and same recipes.
