Artist Highlight: SIV
If you follow Sonic Drive In on IG, then you’ve probably heard his work more than you think. SIV (sounds like sip with a v), is a musician, singer, and director. Born and based in New York, SIV grew up with his family and friends as the music that accompanied his life. Watching his mother tour and perform as a singer during his childhood greatly impacted him in how he saw music and artistry. As a teen, he and his friends created a music group for fun. With Gospel, R&B, and Hip-Hop influence, SIV, later, began to find his own path as an artist in high school. Even though his parents encouraged him to do anything but music, SIV dove headfirst into creating his own sound: Christian R&B infused with Hip-Hip and Soul. With a solid grip of singles, like “Sun Up”, “Heavenly’s”, and “Stay the Night”, an EP (released a year ago to date), and more features than I could count, SIV is still relatively unknown yet making a name for himself daily.
Within the last year, SIV has begun to garner the attention of major CHH artists, like Ruslan and Angie Rose, and airplay on SiriusXM Kirk Franklin Praise. His most recent single, “Safe Haven”, a reminder to call on Jesus in the midst of the craziness of life and trouble, is the perfect song for each of us as we face life day after day in this “panorama”.
